Dr. Francesco Porta received the MD degree in 2005 from the University of Florence (Italy). He received the specialization in Rheumatology from the same institution in 2009 and after this he used to work in the Reumatology Department from 2012 to 2014 as Assistant Professor and from 2015 to 2016 with a bursary for the study of Ultrasound in Rheumatic diseases. Since 2016 to 2019 he worked in the Internal Medicine Department of the San Jacopo Hospital in Pistoia.
He is member of the Italian Society of Rheumatology and one of the founders of the Italian Study Group of Ultrasound in Rheumatic diseases of that society. He is also member of the OMERACT group for Ultrasound in Rheumatology, participating actively to projects abot microcrystal diseases and lung ultrasound.
Since 2010 he has been involved as teacher/tutor in EULAR and EULAR endorsed Ultrasound international courses, gaining the EULAR Level 2 for musculoskeletal ultrasound.
The scientific work of Dr. Porta is focussed on the application of Ultrasound in Rheumatic diseases, on the creation of new definition for ultrasound pathology, on microcrystal artropathies and the evaluation of skin, vessel and lung involvement in Systemic Sclerosis. He is author of several papers on these topics, published in international scientific journals.
